RARE Trilobite Fossil, Adrisiops weugi and a Gerastos, from Morocco #1
This is a rare, newly described fossil trilobite, Adrisiops weugi (Smiley Phacops) - a Phacopid and a Gerastos granulosus , from the Middle Devonian of Morocco. The Adrisiops measures 2.44 inches long (if flattened), and 1.0 inches wide. The entire specimen, trilobites and matrix, measures 2.66 inches long, 2.55 inches wide and 3.99 inches high. Extremely well-preserved schizochroal lenses are present in both eyes of the Adrisiops (see pics). There is a repair running across the thorax, and another running through the right free cheek and down the right side of the thorax. In the trilobite -collecting world this is not a detriment. Trilobites are found by smashing open rocks- and the specimen often gets broken as a result.
It is rare to find an entire, unbroken trilobite. Many sellers do not disclose that their fossils have been repaired as the repair is often very well done, and virtually undetectable. I believe in full disclosure. All of my fossils are guaranteed authentic and have been legally obtained.
